We spend 8-12 hours a day sitting in front of our PCs or laying down in front of our TVs, and our sedentary lifestyle is actually killing us day by day. Surely, from time to time we get motivated for going to a gym or start exercising every evening. However, as a rule, this does not last more than a couple of months. As soon as we go under increased pressure or get too lazy, the importance of the gym routine decreases drastically and we get back to our habits again.

What can we do to include more physical activities to our daily life? Is there anything else but good old recommendation not to use elevators and always take the stairs? For those who want to be more active but spend less efforts, there is a lost of top 9 ways to bring more physical activities to their life.

  • At the workplace, always choose to walk instead of calling or sending an online message. If you need to ask something from your colleague, walk over to their room and talk face-to-face. This will be more effective than opening your messenger or picking up your phone.
  • physical activitiesIf your working environment allows you, try to walk while you’re talking on the phone. This idea can be especially effective for those whose job involves a lot of talking. Besides, walking and being in motion can boost emotional state, so you can learn to be a better talker and a more successful employee.
  • Take a small walk in the noon time. If it is possible, take a 15-20 minute stroll in the break time.
  • If you go to work by car, try to park further from the destination. It does not mean that you need to leave your car somewhere on the neighboring street, but if you have a good and safe parking spot which is something like a half mile away from your office why don’t you park there and enjoy a small walk prior to starting your working day? The same can be said about your way back to home.
  • If you go to work by bus or by metro, skip your stop and take the one after. This will create an opportunity for you to have a walk, to buy a new book or do some other sort of shopping, to meet the people you know and to start a new romantic relationship – who knows…
  • At home, try to make a habit of stretching or doing some passive exercises while watching TV. Or, instead of changing the channels,  Activitiesat least get up and walk around the house during those endless commercial breaks.
  • Play with your kids. Plenty of positive emotions and physical activities for everyone of us!
  • Go in for gardening. Working in the garden or in the yard is an awesome idea for introducing more physical activities in your life!
  • Plan active vacations, in summer or in winter. Instead of going to a resort and staying for hours on the shore or at the pool, go for a golf course, hiking, skiing or other similar type of vacation options.
