Many people are convinced that such factor as excessive appetite plays a key role in weight gaining. This assumption is quite correct: excessive appetite is linked to excessive hunger and consuming more calories as a result. That is why appetite control and knowing the techniques to suppress appetite are important elements of healthy weight management strategy. Some causes of excessive appetite are physiological (including increased exercise, taking certain medications, hormonal shifts and so on), and some are psychological (depression, our eating habits, etc.). Specialists say that physiological factors are a bit hard to alter, but it is quite possible to manipulate psychological factors. The tips below will assist you in more effective appetite control.
1. The best idea is, certainly, to divert your thoughts on something else but meals and eating. Those people, who are very busy at work usually do not think about eating or simply have no time for meals. However, this is also not a good situation because skipping meals is very dangerous for our digestion system and may cause serious problems, such as peptic ulcers and others. Therefore, try to focus on something else during the day, but do not forget about your meals in the mealtime.
2. Some people can not imagine their working day without having a bowl of cashews or candy drops on their table. If the working day is calm and not busy, sometimes these people eat extreme amounts of such snacks. To control your appetite, control the amounts of unhealthy sweet or fatty snacks consumption during the day.
3. Having a good healthy breakfast is one of the most important tips for your daily efforts on appetite control. If you are full and energetic in the morning, your day will start with positive emotions and flow on this way without cravings for unhealthy snacks.
4. Remember that fruit being very low caloric food can cause excessive appetite and excessive hunger. Fruit stimulate gastric juice production and make us feel hungry very soon. Eating fruit is very useful and healthy, but if you want to succeed in appetite control, eat a cup of low fat yogurt or a couple of crackers with fruit. This way you will fill full for much longer period of time.
5. Avoid eating salty foods, like pickles, potato chips or salty nuts. Such foods also stimulate the function of our digestion system and cause excessive appetite.
