Rosemary is one of the most common herbsĀ used for skin care, both as an ingredient for cosmetic products and for aromatherapy. This medicinal plant is rich in many microelements and nutrients, including iron, calcium, vitamins and antioxidants, pinene, camphor, cineole, verbenon and other components which can provide our skin with a series of important benefits and improve our skin quality.
Rosemary and rosemary oil can effectively tone our skin (especially sagging and loose skin) and make it firmer and more elastic. This herb has very powerful astringent properties, meaning that it can effectively reduce extra oil, as well as refresh and rejuvenate our skin. It is a very good natural remedy for reducing swelling and puffiness, and rosemary oil is a very common ingredient of anti-aging skin care complexes and creams.
Excellent properties to stimulate blood flow assist in improving complexion and making our skin look healthier. Great amounts of antioxidants in this plant inhibit the activities of free radicals and slow down aging. Rosemary and rosemary oil have very powerful anti-inflammatory properties that is why these herbal remedies can be also used to treat various skin conditions, including small cuts, insect bites, acne, eczema, dermatitis and so on.
In terms of aromatherapy, rosemary oil can be used to improve skin quality by adding several drops of this oil (along with other essential oils) to the bath tap. Also, it is possible to enjoy the benefits of rosemary for your skin by adding a few drops of its oil to your day-care cream or to your own herbal preparations for skin care. Please, remember that only a high quality rosemary oil from a reputable producer can be used for skin care (there are many synthetic and cheap oils currently in the market).
