For many of us, Christmas and New Year holidays are the most special and favorite season. Every family has own traditions and own ways to celebrate it, but there are lots of things which are the same in every family and very important for having a happy New Year celebration. A beautifully decorated Christmas tree, cold and snowy weather, many delicious meals on our tables, our favorite TV shows and wishing each other to have a great year are among those most common attributes of New Year holidays. But what about Christmas presents?

Christmas ShoppingI wonder, how long does your usual Christmas shopping last? Sometimes we spend up to 2-3 hours in the shopping centers choosing and buying Christmas and New Year presents for our friends and family. According to the findings of a study, which was recently carried out on the request of our famous retailer company John Lewis, during a Christmas shopping women usually have an about 7 km walk, and men cover about 4-5 km. At that, the specialists are convinced that such shopping causes significant calorie loss and assist in weight reduction.

The study showed that an hour of Christmas shopping  helps us to lose 200-300 calories, but if you prefer using steps instead of escalators and elevators in shopping centers, you can lose up to350 calories, the experts say. In other words, for 1.5 hour shopping session you can spend the amount of calories you receive after eating a piece of turkey or drinking a glass of wine. At the same time, a two-hour shopping session can cover the calorie intake that we receive after eating a piece of cake. Therefore, long live Christmas shopping!! Happy shopping to everyone, and happy holidays!
