heart healthWho wants to live long? And who does not know, what we need to do to live to 100? That’s right, healthy eating and exercising are the key factors. Most of us know this  very well, but not many of us realize that it is important to act right now and introduce these healthy habits into our life now, in order to prolong our life and also save money that we’d spend for improving our health later on. According to Dr Clyde Yancy, a famous Canadian cardiologist, everyone of us has about 90 per cent chances to live to the age of 90 and even 100, if we follow 7 simple rules that  Dr Yancy has recently introduced to the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress in Vancouver.

I am not sure why they say that the rules are simple cos’ for most of us this will definitely be not  so easy to follow them all, and currently only one person of ten actually follows these recommendations. However, they are a great way for us to live heart disease free and increase our chances for a healthier and happier life. Check out 7 steps to living a longer life and having a better heart health.

1. Always follow a healthy diet. This is probably the most important rule cos’ there’s hardly something more effective that we can do to improve our overall health. Unfortunately, not too many people around the world observe healthy eating rules and recommendations.

2. Exercise and be active. As I mentioned before, this is another milestone recommendation. According to the findings of modern specialists, our inactive life style results in four-five year shorter life, as well as highly increased risks of developing such health conditions like a stroke or a heart disease.

3.long life Avoid being overweight. It is estimated that every six of ten people in North America are overweight, and according to Dr Yancy’s findings, extra pounds can shave off up to four-five years of our life, left alone the risks of serious heart problems.

4. Quit smoking. Smoking, and also passive smoking (or being exposed to second-hand smoke) are linked to elevated risks of heart diseases and much shorter lifespan.

5. Keep your blood pressure under control. It is very important to be aware about possible problems with your blood pressure, because such condition as increased blood pressure is among the leading causes of poor heart health. By being aware about the problem and normalizing the situation, one can decrease the risks of heart attack by 25 per cent, and the risks of a stroke by 40 per cent.

6. Keep your cholesterol levels under control. A great deal of us have elevated levels of cholesterol in the blood that is a sign of higher risks of developing cardiovascular problems. Fortunately, nowadays there are quite effective natural ways to lower cholesterol levels and increase our chances for a longer life.

7. Do everything necessary to prevent diabetes. This disease is considered a serious warning sign, and those who have diabetes are very much prone to developing heavy problems like atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and so on.
