Breakfast is certainly the most important meal for the day, but a lot of us are not able to wake up enough by the breakfast time to think about our health, especially when we need to have a bite and run to their workplace. That is why the most common type of breakfast include a cup of tea or coffee and a sandwich. However, we must not forget that having a good and healthy breakfast can assist us in weight management and cholesterol lowering, this way preventing possible health problems related to our heart health.
Those, who got used to traditional boiled eggs and bacon for breakfast may found these ideas a little weird, but incorporating a heart-healthy breakfast in your daily routine is very beneficial. Below, you con find some ideas for nutritious and tasty heart-healthy breakfast.
1. Some fresh fruit and 25-30 g of dark bitter chocolate. Fresh fruit are a perfect source of antioxidants which can help us in preventing cancer and cardio-vascular diseases. The same can be said about bitter chocolate, which contains a type of flavonoids called epicatechin. This element can boost the levels of heart-protecting antioxidants in our blood.
2. Low-fat yogurt with fruit and a piece of Tofu cheese. Low-fat yogurt with berries and nuts is one of the most effective meals for heart health. Tofu cheese is a perfect source of proteins and calcium. Proteins are not less important for our heart health than antioxidants or fiber.
3. Oatmeal variations. Oatmeal is, probably, the best meal for good health of our heart, but eating it every morning, again and again, can be a little boring. Therefore, there is a great room for your own imagination. Cook steel cut oats in a slow cooker overnight, and use different mix-ins, like dried fruit, nuts, berries, low-fat yogurt and what ever you like. Such granola is a perfect meal to lower cholesterol levels in the blood and decrease the risks of having heart problems.
4. Fresh vegetable salads. Vegetable salads are low in calories, but, at the same time, they are very rich in fiber and antioxidants. Fiber is necessary for lowering cholesterol levels and improving our heart health. You can use all veggies you like, especially green leafy vegetables and tomatoes. The only problem is: after eating a vegetable salad you star feeling hungry very soon.
5. Cereal with low-fat milk. This is a very popular idea for a healthy breakfast which does not need any additional comments.
6. Homemade vegetable soups. This is another way to express yourself and use your inspiration in cooking. Use various veggies and, if you do not have fresh ones at the moment, you can buy and use frozen veggies. Such soups are low in calories and are good not only for our cardio-vascular system, but also for better function of our digestive system.
7. Tofu cheese and some boiled chicken meat. Not everyone likes Tofu cheese and it is possible to replace it with any type of low-fat cheese (cottage cheese, for example). Also, you can use some boiled rice to eat with Tofu and boiled chicken meat as a heart-healthy breakfast.
