An improper or unhealthy diet is quite a common thing. In our drive to lose extra pounds, we sometimes forget to watch what we eat and start experiencing very unpleasant symptoms, like mental fatigue, depression, irritability, forgetfulness, constant hunger and many more. Nutritionists tend to believe that in the most cases such symptoms are linked to an unhealthy diet, and the good news is: we can always make necessary adjustments to our diet and start feeling better. Below, see 5 most common signs of an improper diet and the suggestions on how to lower their effects by changing your daily nutrition rules.
- Constant and persistent feeling of hunger. This is a common symptom of a low calorie or a crush diet which many of us follow attempting to put off some weight. Constant feeling of hunger can also be caused by too low fiber intake, or by such a habit as skipping meals. To solve this problem, start your day with a large breakfast which includes the foods rich in fiber and proteins. During the day, eat small portions every 3-4 hours and include to your daily diet such meals as soups, stews, fresh fruit and veggies, beans and other foods rich in fiber.
Feeling constantly depressed and down. Specialists believe that this condition can be caused by a lack of Omega 3 acid and Vitamins B group in your daily diet. That is why the best solution in this situation can be eating oily fish, which is a known source of Omega 3 acids, as well as the foods rich in Vitamin B, like beans, whole grains, green veggies, eggs, potatoes, bananas, dairy products and so on.
- Constant fatigue and a lack of energy. This is also one of the most common signs of an unhealthy diet which is supposed to be caused by low amounts of carbs. It is clear that any diet high in carbs leads to extra calories and weight gain, but do not cut carbs completely in your diet. Eat brown rice instead of white, eat bread made from whole-grain flour instead of sweet bakery, and you’ll be able to satisfy your needs in good carbs. Also, to feel more energized and active, drink a lot or water and add to your daily diet the foods rich in iron (apples, oatmeal, tofu cheese, liver, soybeans, etc.)
- Anxiety, irritability and worry. These signs are directly linked to an unhealthy diet, skipping meals and more often – caffeine abuse. Do everything possible to make your diet well-balanced, consume a little more calories and avoid having caffeinated drinks. Enrich your diet with low fat dairy products, fresh veggies, oatmeal, beans, herbal teas and other healthy foods.
- Forgetfulness, impaired memory, a lack of concentration and mental fatigue. This condition is supposed to be connected with a lack of antioxidants, iron and Vitamin E. Such type of an improper diet causes problems with memory and our mental abilities.
- Always eat a good breakfast, add the foods rich in iron and antioxidants, especially the greens and legumes.
